Protecting Sweden's Groundwater
Svenskt Vattenprov is deeply committed to protecting Sweden's groundwater and ensuring that our drinking water maintains the highest quality. Clean and safe water is one of our most valuable natural resources and a fundamental prerequisite for health and well-being. To protect and manage these resources in the best possible way, it is crucial to have knowledge about where wells are located and their status. Knowing where and how many wells exist in an area is a prerequisite for implementing effective measures to prevent contamination and ensure good water quality.
Why is it important to register your well?
By registering more wells in SGU's national Well Archive, the ability to monitor groundwater conditions is improved. A complete and updated database makes it easier for authorities and municipalities to plan for sustainable water supply, and to take measures to protect water from contamination. It also facilitates new developments and drilling in the area, as assessments can be made based on the availability of information about existing wells. A clear overview of groundwater conditions is crucial for planning sustainable and safe water extraction throughout the country.
How do you register your well?
Reporting your well is easy and takes only a few minutes. It is voluntary but very valuable. You can do it directly via your mobile phone or computer. Thanks to automatic GPS positioning, you can easily provide exact location details. Your commitment makes a big difference as it helps create a more comprehensive map of Sweden's groundwater resources.
